Give a brief info about your startup?

Rentprop4u is a platform “a click away from finding your desired property and good tenant for your property. More than special features, we‘re specialized in making customers happy and becoming more of the customized residential management company which is the biggest edge we have over our competitors. We believe that “the customer is the biggest stakeholder”, therefore, we are keener on keeping the customers happy and satisfied and delivering a quality-based service. The special features include- Zero brokerage, Assured rent for the property, end to end property management.

What made you start your startup and what problem does it solve?

The idea was born from a problem that Nagaraju saw many of his young migrant friends face when they had to rent a property in Bengaluru. The security deposits seemed exorbitant for young professionals who had just started their careers. Language was a major barrier when dealing with local brokers, and lack of documentation on the part of owners added to their woes. Nagaraju thought that an online solution without the interference of the owner or the broker could solve these problems to a large extent. Rentprop4u is a Bengaluru-based realty start-up offering property management and rental solutions to owners and tenants. Backed by its cutting-edge technology platform and data-driven analytics, the company aims to take the worry out of owning and renting a home. The company offers an end-to-end online rental solution for tenants to find suitable properties at zero brokerage with minimal paperwork, while owners can make use of Rentprop4u’s services to manage their properties and maximise their rental income.

 

Tell us about yourself, your previous jobs/ventures? What were you doing before this startup?

 

He hails from a business family – his father runs a restaurant, and all his siblings have their own ventures. So he believes it was in his blood to start out on his own – something he dreamed of from his teenage days and acted upon very early in life. Nagaraju credits his success to his ability to take risks, listen, and constantly learn, and the fact that he’s able to visualise his goals and focus on them.

Nagaraju focuses on acquisitions and sales functions in the company. A true blue Bengalurean, he knows the South Bengaluru property sector inside out. His mantra has been “work hard, but also work smart”. There is only room for excitement in every move he makes in this competitive environment. He thrives on uncertainty.

On acquiring his degree, he decided to work as an Assistant Auditor for over a year, to learn business ethics and management from a real-world perspective. “Auditing exposes you to a diversity of problems that teach you how a business really operates,” says the ever-practical businessman. He then went on to complete his MBA in finance and marketing, and consequently worked with leading real estate players as a business development executive. The corporate world taught him to translate a concept into action. “It gave me confidence in my entrepreneurial abilities,” he emphasises.

 

Where is your startup based out of? Why do you think that is the best place for you?

Rentprop4u is a Bengaluru-based realty start-up offering property management and rental solutions to owners and tenants. With almost 25,000 units lying vacant in Bengaluru, Nagaraju realised the huge market potential to be tapped in the city.

 

As a startup founder, what are you paranoid about? What keeps you awake at night?

In the Initial phase, it was always a challenge to be an entrepreneur and it was a big step forward in our life as we left our comfort zone, to build on our passion.

-As far as this segment is considered, owners are our biggest stakeholders and we are taking them away from traditional broker driven industry, so it was a challenge to convince owners of the same.

-It’s a challenge to convince quality employees to join start-ups because of the perception over start-up sustainability,

– Other significant elements that needed attention were long term and short-term plans, daily budget management, brand positioning while competing with existing players in the market.

 

Who are your competitions and how are you better than them?

Though there are several players in the market they are diversified in their business models like paying guest, home rentals and office spaces.  But Renprop4U exclusively takes care of rental management which makes the company unique and customer focused.

 

How hard is it to have a work life balance as a startup founder and how do you manage it?

Initial days we had to prioritise our work, and make a few sacrifices in order to overcome initial hurdles.

And gradually we were able to set apart time to focus on our personal lives as well, which helped us perform better at work.

We always set long term and short-term goals and we strive to stick to schedules, which gives us ample amount of time to focus on work and also spare time for our personal life.

 

 

Have you raised funding? If yes, then we would like to know the details. If no then please tell us if you are looking to raise.

No, we are yet to raise funding and are looking to raise funds to expand our business across the country.

 

What’s the biggest misconception people have about you? Why do they have that? What’s the reality?

The industry was always broker driven and owners were hardly exposed to the idea of a mediator managing their property under a legal contract and online property management concept is fairly new and it takes time for owners to get adapted. Therefore, owners were not confident enough to hand over their property to the company with concerns towards the security assurance of property and rent assurance. Since owners have limited knowledge about the online rental management process, they have a lot of queries in the minds as to how the company will manage their property. The reality is that the owners find it more comfortable and hassle free when compared to broken driven services.

 

What gets you excited about this company?

As I focus on solving new challenges at work, I am reminded of my passion of my entrepreneurial journey, and it’s become my motivation to carry on with my long term goals and this gets me exited and drives me to do more.

 

Tell us how a day in your life looks like? Your schedule for a day right from the time you get up till you hit the bed at night.,

To be honest, I don’t know how the days roll out, but for the first 15-20 days, I am always engaged with charting the sales plans, marketing and internal review meetings as well owner meeting, and always making myself available for customers. And for later days I focus on Employee development motivating them through various training programmes.

 

Tell us about your team and how did you meet each other?

He proposed the idea to his cousins Asha and Ravi who hail from Bangalore, who were convinced in the viability of the project and decided to back him.
