Of all the things, issues, thoughts, beliefs, customs and values that seek to differentiate one individual human being from another, health and wellness ought to serve as the glue, the adhesive that seeks to bind humanity’s fate together, for what sector serves to uplift humanity’s quest to discover ever more unknowns in different fields, other than our own health and wellness?

It is the sector that forms the bedrock of humanity, along with education.

Lucky is the human being who whole-heartedly believes he or she is absolutely healthy. Because many are not. As technology and science serve to adopt themselves to the personal needs and requirements of every human being, seeking to determine the right, optimal amount of nutrients, physical activity,  mental activity and experiences, delivered at exactly the right time, we need human beings to make sense of this world of ours and help us reach and stay at peak performance, personally and professionally.

Today, at Bangalore Insider, we spoke to Paramita, an exceptionally talented human being who is helping mothers and their children, navigate their health and wellness journey. Below are the excerpts from our interaction.

Tell us about yourself, what do you like most about your field of work?

I love to travel to places that interest me and connect me with new people and perspectives.  Believe me I am also a foodie and explore my culinary skills with an assortment of cuisines. Mostly enjoy cooking and baking and my favorite thing is to spend quality time with my 2-year-old daughter.

In my line of work, one of the things that I cherish the most is meeting new people and helping them stay fit. I help them through their entire journey with a holistic approach – consulting, fitness guidance, emotional support, etc.

Your previous jobs/ventures? What were you doing before choosing this field?

Have worked as Business Analyst for nearly 12 years with various IT companies. Later, I ventured out to start my own career as an entrepreneur with Parami’s kitchen (delivery kitchen specialized in Bengali cuisine). It will always be close to my heart as my journey began with this. Unfortunately had to temporarily shut it down due to some operational difficulties but didn’t lose hope.

How did you land up doing what you do now?

Post my maternity relief, I realized the weight-gain problem and difficulties not just physically but mentally to get back in shape. It is also when I realized that there are plenty of other women sailing through the same boat. Since my childhood, I had been a fitness enthusiast and practiced yoga with healthy eating habits. Therefore, I indulged myself into being a certified nutritionist and yoga practitioner. Also, I have applied for certification as a child nutrition expert. My vision is to help children grow healthy while helping the mothers stay fit.

If not the current profession, what would you have been?

A Chef or a Baker.

What motivates you to keep going?

Being fit was always natural to me. When I help people not just transforming physically but a complete change to their lifestyle, it gives a sense of achievement and satisfaction. Also, when my clients tell me about their experience and how it boosts their self-esteem, it helps me stay positive and keep going further.

Tell us how a day in your life looks like? Your schedule for a day right from the time you get up till you hit the bed at night.

I have always been a morning person and my day typically starts with a cup of Detox drink followed by training sessions till 10 am in the morning. After that my little one keeps me occupied for a while. Later the household chores like cooking lunch and feeding my baby girl, it is already 4 in the evening. I read books on YOGA and Nutrition, call it a little me-time. My training sessions again start at 6 pm and go on till 8 pm followed by dinner at 8:30. After this it’s story time for my daughter again which is a stress buster for me. I am in bed by 10:30 to enjoy my hard-earned sleep.

Any regrets till now? If yes, will you like to share it with our readers?

The only regret I feel sometimes is if I had started my journey as Nutritionist and yoga practitioner a little earlier.

If you were given a choice of meeting any person you want, who will be that person?

Sadhguru. I would love to meet him if I get a chance, I always followed his teachings spiritually and for my yogic practices.

What is the biggest misconception that you think people have about you?

Didn’t come across yet.

Any message that you want to send to your readers?

I have always believed that when you want to try everything but still stay fit, you always have an option – listen to your appetite if that is difficult then Portion Control. Also, I would suggest everyone to not look at Yoga as a means to be physically fit. YOGA promotes physical and mental well being.
