I think competition makes you give your 100 percent to your work, and you work very meticulously and I always believe if you are good at what you deliver, nothing can stop you, says Anupama.

She has lot more to say, read her interview with us and see how she switch her career from interior designer to baking.

Tell us about yourself, your previous jobs/ventures? What were you doing before choosing this field?

There was always a creative side to my persona, I was always associated with painting, arts and crafts. I love experimenting, I have always changed traditional way of doing things in my life.

Before I started taking culinary classes and cake orders, I was a simple housewife, experimenting different cuisines in my kitchen and serving my family with the delicacies I prepared.

How did you land up doing what you do now?

Being a commerce graduate was just not enough for me and I did interior designing, but after my son was born, when I decided to work as a part timer, there was nobody willing to hire a part timer. Cooking n baking was always my first love, so switched over to my love and the rest is history

What motivates you?

I believe in constant learning, when I see my students asking for more, I push myself and don’t leave until I achieve . And we have some amazingly talented people in the industry who always inspire you.

How do you plan to stay ahead of your competitors?

I think competition makes you give your 100 percent to your work, and you work very meticulously and I always believe if you are good at what you deliver, nothing can stop you.

If not the current profession, what would you have been?

I would have been a interior designer

Were your parents supportive of what you are doing? What impact have they had on your life?

They have been very supportive, I would say not only my parents my parent-in-laws as well. In fact my mother is my inspiration, my guru, she is a great cook and I have inherited qualities from her. I would say it’s in my genes.

What are your plans for the next 2 years?

I want to open my own culinary academy and train students .

What does a typical day off from work consist of for you?

I usually don’t have any lay offs, but if I do have, I spend my time with my kids and my husband, the younger one is just 14 months old and it’s a pleasure watching him

Any regrets till now? If yes, will you like to share it with our readers?

I think only regret would be , I should have started my career at least 5 yrs earlier.

If you were given a choice of meeting any person you want, who will be that person?

It would definitely be shah rukh Khan,  I would love to cook for him.

Any message that you want to send to your readers?

I would tell them celebrate your occasions with Cakes N Smiles and we all work hard to fill our stomach . So why not fill it with yummy delicacies and we are here to teach them.
