The digital medium has pervaded every aspect of life.

But this is only the beginning. As we connect more and more people and electronic devices to the internet to harness the power of shared connections and data to improve and disrupt existing business processes in multiple industry segments, the scale of efficiency and newer ways of living and working will either overwhelm us or enthrall us and everything in between.

It is difficult to predict the future. While we can make reasonable predictions for say, a few years, or even months, to understand emerging trends and fundamental business drivers of a particular segment, we simply do not possess the expertise to look ahead in terms of decades. Just think, how 2010 began and how 2019 ended – a completely different world with a select few technologies expected to dominate our lives going forwards towards 2030.

The website became the de facto choice of brand expression when the internet revolution began, transitioning into apps and wearables, accessible through smartphones, desktops, laptops and tablets. What next? We do not know, but we know a little bit and based on such information we can seek to ally our personal and professional lives for this coming decade.

Today, at Bangalore Insider, we spoke to the founder of LookOut Solutions, who began his entrepreneurial journey to become an independent business owner advising clients about their brand identities in an increasingly digital world.

Give a brief info about your startup?

My startup is into Graphic & website Designing services.

What made you start your startup and what problem does it solve?

It is a digital world now and everybody needs designing services for their brand and identity. We provide solutions for them to uplift their brand identity

Tell us about yourself, your previous jobs/ventures? What were you doing before this startup?

My name is Rohit Dodia. I graduated from Engineering in 2003 and have done my diploma in Hardware & Networking. Basically my background is in the IT Field. I was working as a Systems Admin at Inorbit Mall. Then I started working at TPO (Stream Global Services) as Sr. Support Engineer and then later I started my first designing company in 2007. It was started during a recession.  I continued for approximately 1 year but due to family pressure, I kept my company on hold and joined an Event Management Company as a website Designer. I worked for 1 ½ year and left the company (the company became bankrupt) and restarted my company. I succumbed to family pressure again, however, joining as an IT Manager cum website designer at a Medical centre for 7 years before I finally restarted my own company in the name of LookOut Solutions.

Where is your startup based out of? Why do you think that is the best place for you?

I reside at Miraroad (Mumbai) but my office is in Mulund (Mumbai). The reason was to be close to Mulund since it was easier for me to arrange for an office from a family friend.

As a startup founder, what are you paranoid about? What keeps you awake at night?

I am paranoid about the team.  Is my team doing timepass or not, doing work on time or not, when I am not in office which might not always be true. When work is pending then I cannot sleep at night properly because I have a habit of keeping my work bucket empty, don’t like to keep the backlog

Who are your competitions and how are you better than them?

There are multiple competitors in this field. I believe in our ability to stick to deadlines and 24/7 availability for our clients.

How hard is it to have a work-life balance as a startup founder and how do you manage it?

As a startup founder I have to balance work as well as life. Because as a founder, the founder is the one-man army who works almost 20 hours a day. But somehow manage to give time to family and friends

Have you raised funding? If yes, then we would like to know the details. If no then please tell us if you are looking to raise.

NO not yet raised funding. BUT yes I am looking to raise funding to expand my team and company.

What’s the biggest misconception people have about you? Why do they have that? What’s the reality?

People think that designing is very simple and can be done instantly without giving any effort.

They think that designing is done by clicking a button and it’s done. But they don’t know that designing is not simple at all as a designer he/she has to conceptualize the artwork and portray it accordingly. We have to think to the level of customer satisfaction and then the artwork is created, we have to check the colors of the brand, designing elements, characters what to use. They just give us the content and reference as what they want to have similar to that sample given and those lines we work and send the artwork

What gets you excited about this company?

My passion of creating new designs for my clients and as it’s my baby I love to nurture it and make it big. My vision for my company is to be a 24x7x365 days functioning company.

 

Tell us how a day in your life looks like? Your schedule for a day right from the time you get up till you hit the bed at night.

So days start at 4 AM in the morning and my work starts by 8 am. I’m usually in the office till 8 pm post which I try to spend time with my family and friends.

Tell us about your team and how did you meet each other?

My team has 2 members. One of them is the graphics cum website designer and another is a graphic designer. I got connected with them from one of my mutual friends.
