Brands On The Go 360 is a Mumbai based startup founded by Parth Shah.
This needs to change, out of 100 startups, at least 70 startups should become successful, the current scenario will indeed take time to change but it will definitely change, says Parth.
We at Bangalore Insider had an opportunity to have an interview with Parth. Here are the excerpts.
Give a brief info about your startup?
BOTG 360 is basically the heaven for young entrepreneurs, we provide everything which a startup dreams of.
At Brands On The Go 360, we provide all type of essential services and solutions which a new company or a startup needs to grow and expand. We nurture new ideas and concepts which have great upside potential, and the ability to disrupt the existing market. From Funding, Marketing, Brand strategy to client servicing and backhand support, we facilitate almost everything.
We provide wings to fly!!!!
This is what we do
What made you start your startup and what problem does it solve?
So Brands On The Go 360, purely came into existence because in India more than 1500 startups have failed in last 5 years that too because of a variety of reasons – being it lack of innovation, lack of funding, or merely because startups adopt business models which are popular in western countries, but they fail to understand its creditability in India, its not necessary that every amazing Idea is suitable for India. Currently, in India, we have a Startup Ecosystem in which 10 out of 100 startups do exceptionally well, rest 90 see a downfall within the first 5 years. This needs to change, out of 100 startups, at least 70 startups should become successful, the current scenario will indeed take time to change but it will definitely change. We have observed that out of 90 startups, 60 fail because they don’t have a much innovative idea, and rest 30 fail because of small issues which makes it difficult for startups to sustain for a long time and the remaining 10 successful companies are happy in their own world.
At BOTG 360, we provide all essential solutions which a company needs to grow and expand, We evaluate the ideas, make a funding pitch for them, connect the startups with the right investors, provide freelancer professional team to handle different departments initially and we do many more things. We have our own team of mentors and advisors to guide the young entrepreneurs, and we also help them to identify and fix loopholes.
We also run an Investor Connect Program, where we connect startups with right investors based on the product and investor portfolio, saving the time of both the investor and the startup.
Tell us about yourself, your previous jobs/ventures? What were you doing before this startup?
It all started at the age of 16, when I started my first venture. My first startup was BRO Adventures, treks and camps we started with. Till date its still operational and we are doing pretty well, next In the bucket was Mocktalz India started a year ago, here we manufacture and supply mocktails and milkshakes to bars and restaurants, this concept was based on a very small gap which we solved successfully.
BRO Adventures made me a better entrepreneur, we met failures, roadblocks and this taught me a lot and gave me a lot of experience, knowledge and exposure. I started with the service sector because it is more difficult to run as compared to the manufacturing sector. Essentially because there is no physical product as such we were selling something which needs to be experienced, Here I mastered the art of selling. With all this experience and exposure at the Age of 20, I started Brands On The Go360, and within 6 months of operations, we started doing well.
Where is your startup based out of? Why do you think that is the best place for you?
So we are based out in Mumbai, the city of dreams. Here everyday some or the other person makes a leap of faith, here people are not scared of dreaming, and this city never sleeps. We started in this city because here a lot of startups have succeeded, and a hell lot of startups have failed miserably. Here we don’t only nurture ideas but also nurture people who have an ambition or a spark to do something. Another reason for choosing Mumbai is because here I started my first business and for me mumbai is my lucky charm.
As a startup founder, what are you paranoid about? What keeps you awake at night?
Whenever a new idea or a new concept comes over my table, it gives me anxiety because I am essentially escorting the entrepreneur in his leap of faith, and his company’s faith is in my hand. Company’s success or failure depends on my guidance and founder’s execution. This gives me sleepless nights because I have to make sure my guidance and his execution works in sync, or else we would be fail.
It will be our failure, and not just the entrepreneur’s failure. Personally I hate failures or you can say I cannot afford to lose.
How hard is it to have a work-life balance as a startup founder and how do you manage it?
For me handling life, work and studies is very challenging, but its the challenge which I like. It makes you more efficient and there is a sense of satisfaction. Sometimes all the day goes in studies and someday hours go in meetings. It’s very difficult to handle, but my passion drives me all the way up.
I try to solve this problem by following a timetable and working alternate days, the rest of the day my team handles. Now I am preparing for CAT 2019, so will start working on weekends. Studies are also important, it gives you creditability, and even if your startup fails you can get back to corporate life with the help of your degree.
Have you raised funding? If yes, then we would like to know the details. If no then please tell us if you are looking to raise.
Currently, we have a team of investors to invest in different startups, for my company its too early to raise funds, we have a unique revenue structure which makes us self sustainable. Some of our advisors are serving voluntarily, and our operating expenses are pretty low, But as we start expanding to different cities which we would start by March 2020, we would be looking to raise some funds to develop infrastructure and recruit more people.
What gets you excited about this company?
One thing about this company which excites me the most is the fact that every day I see new ideas coming to my desk, when I go through the ideas I see the amount of handwork and efforts an entrepreneur takes to scale up the business, this inspires me.
Every day I get inspired and excited because every day a meet some or the entrepreneur and I get to learn from them, and it is always fun to hit a great conversation with the person having similar interest.
Tell us how a day in your life looks like? Your schedule for a day right from the time you get up till you hit the bed at night.
So my day starts 6 in the morning, after completing my daily rituals, I have to reach college at 7 am, by 12 pm I leave from college and head back home then we have an online team meeting every alternate day to see the work progress. Then we have client meetings and we keep vendor meetings at the end of the day. 2 pm to 4 pm is mostly for client meetings. We often go to the client’s office.
After completing work at the vendor’s office, I head back home. After getting home either I go for a swim or squash. Post 9 pm I spend half an hour responding to emails, some days I have my friends to hang out with. By 12 am I hit the bed again.
