 Sweet n Spicy is a Bangalore based startup started by Ameena Tarannum.

“It’s my third baby. A part of my brain is always occupied with it”, says Ameena.

We got an opportunity to talk with Ameena. And I am sure; her story will inspire you. Let’s look at his journey how she started with her passion and took it to the second level.

 

Give a brief info about your startup?

I just started my venture sweet n spicy treat a couple of years back. Baking has always been my passion from my teens. I used to experiment with ingredients back when there was no technology as now(now it is very easy). It was just trail and error. One fine day I made up my mind to share and gain more knowledge.

 

What made you start your startup and what problem does it solve?

I just started as a hobby baker which turned into a full-time passionate  baker

 

 Tell us about yourself, your previous jobs/ventures? What were you doing before this startup?

About myself I’m a simple house wife, mother of two teenager boys. My life revolves around my family. As my boys entered into the college I had nothing much to do. That’s when I thought of doing something.

 

 Where is your startup based out of? Why do you think that is the best place for you?

I handle all my classes and orders from my humble kitchen. Maybe in near future, I would like to have my own studio.

 

As a startup founder, what are you paranoid about? What keeps you awake at night?

My passion to learn more and more keeps me awake. I give my hundred percent in what I do, be it my workshops or orders.

 

Who are your competitions and how are you better than them?

I like to compete with myself learning new techniques rather than completing with others.

 

How hard is it to have a work-life balance as a startup founder and how do you manage it?

My family is my support system so balancing both was not a problem.

 

What’s the biggest misconception people have about you? Why do they have that? What’s the reality?

Touchwood no misconception about me, I’m blessed with wonderful people be it, my clients or students.

 

What gets you excited about this company?

It’s my third baby. A part of my brain is always occupied with it……lol

 

Tell us how a day in your life looks like? Your schedule for a day right from the time you get up till you hit the bed at night.

I am not on toes the whole day. Time management is very important for me. I do not accept last minute orders and I don’t take more than two orders a day. I schedule my work.

 

Tell us about your team and how did you meet each other?

As of now it’s just one man army but later I would like to open a gourmet store with all homemade stuff like cookies, ice cream, granola, macrons, etc. Which is preservative free and guilt free.
