We got an opportunity to talk with Raghavendra, the founder of Mobiezy. And I am sure; his story will inspire you. Let’s look at the journey.
Give a brief info about your startup?
Mobiezy is an early success story of startup India initiative – founded in early 2016 in Bangalore. The driving force behind this was the necessity to bring the generational shift towards automation and efficiency in subscription-based businesses of the economy. Mobiezy aims to revolutionize local businesses by providing applications that provide better accountability, better control, increase cash flows, reduce credit period & streamline operations. We offer a fast, affordable and secure way for cable Tv operators, Newspaper agencies, Gyms, Small Clubs and alike companies to collect payments & serve their customers more efficiently. In just 2 years we have managed around Rs.250 crores collection for these 800+ business over 100+ cities in India. We have introduced online payment in multiple Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities all over India through these Businesses
What made you start your startup and what problem does it solve?
For a long time, I have felt that hyper-local business is an underserved area especially businesses in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities managing recurring revenues were struggling a lot. I understood that small business in India needs a dynamic yet simple self-service managed solution and they need a technology platform to connect with their customers in order to provide better services and thereby sustain their growth. So started this company with a solution for Cable TV Operators to manage their monthly collections and customer complaints.
Tell us about yourself, your previous jobs/ventures? What were you doing before this startup?
I completed my BE in Electronics & Communications from Mangalore University. After college, I worked in Satyam Computers in Hyderabad, Iflex Solutions Bangalore, 3Com Corporation Singapore, Supervalu India and MetricStream a Product company in Bangalore. In MetricStream I got an exposure where I provided solutions to many well-known companies worldwide like Kraft Foods, IKEA, Woolworths, Zurich Financials etc.
Where is your startup based out of? Why do you think that is the best place for you?
We are based out of Bangalore(to be precise South Bangalore :)) You all know that Bangalore is the Silicon Valley of East and hub for IT startups being here reduces the lead-time for finding talents and even for raising funds. Also hoping that initiatives by KBITS and Nasscom to build an ecosystem for Startups will benefit us in the coming days.
As a startup founder, what are you paranoid about? What keeps you awake at night?
Once in a while, I get up too early from bed because of 2 things. First is when it comes to my mind that we are delaying to deliver some good features and that is not coming as planned or expected. Second is suddenly I get some idea which I feel it is genius and I am waiting to share with someone. 🙂

Who are your competitions and how are you better than them?
There are many but they are generic like Zoho Subscriptions, Knowlarity for IVR etc. We are diving deep with a Business/Domain where we are solving a problem.
How hard is it to have a work-life balance as a startup founder and how do you manage it?
In the beginning, it was very tough as I was coming across everything first time like compliance, Finance, Collections, Marketing etc. Over a period of time, I am able to offload the ownership to right people. This is reducing my burden. Now I have started taking more breaks which makes me more efficient and be creative.
Have you raised funding? If yes, then we would like to know the details. If no then please tell us if you are looking to raise.
We have not raised funding from VC. Initially took help from a friend who is also a good mentor. We are bootstrapping as of now. We are getting towards sustainable revenue.
What’s the biggest misconception people have about you? Why do they have that? What’s the reality?
I don’t know, as right now I am not worrying too much about what others are thinking.
What gets you excited about this company?
We are building customer-centric products and everybody in the team is thinking about the problems that they face regularly. Almost everyone is interacting with customers which is making them good business analysts apart from whatever is their primary role.

Tell us how a day in your life looks like? Your schedule for a day right from the time you get up till you hit the bed at night.
I start my day with a 30 minutes walk which will help me a lot to relax and during this 30 minutes, I plan for the day. After that I reach the office, usually, it goes till 8 PM and after that reach, home to spend just 1 or 2 hours with family.
Tell us about your team and how did you meet each other?
Its a 14 members team now and most of them have joined through reference. We have almost zero attrition in Mobiezy. Sagar, Iranna, Deepak, Abhi, Mahanthesh and Jyothi are with us since more than one year and they have seen Mobiezy growing from scratch. Lately, Thapaswi, Dinesh, Surbhi, Akash, Supreeth, Adhitya, Vibha joined us and helping Mobiezy to go to next level.
