Tell us about yourself, your previous jobs/ventures? What were you doing before choosing this field?

I’m a home based passionate Cake Artist and hold Diploma in Bakery Confectionary & Cake Art from Institute of Baking & Cake Art, Bangalore (A specialized institute for Baking) and certified by Govt. of India. I operate with my brand – Frosted Memories. I have served more that 1000 customer orders so far. I offer unique designs made from healthier options, like baking products using whole wheat, jaggery/honey, diabetic friendly, ragi /millets, gluten free.

Since my marriage I have been full time home maker bringing up my kids. However, I have always been experimenting with various cuisines when we have friends and families at home. Though I’m a post graduate in economics, I wasn’t really inclined towards it.

How did you land up doing what you do now?

I think my interest around preparing various cuisines, making people happy when they consume and my husband’s push to do diploma course gave me confidence that I will succeed.

What motivates you?

Ans : When people write back to me after their party or personal event is over that everyone loved the Cake and it was highlight of the get-together, I just feel elated. I have friends and customers who have written comments or said good words that just takes away the pains of trying so hard to make a difference to somebody’s life.

How do you plan to stay ahead of your competitors?

Ans: I keep myself updated about what’s latest in the industry – global & local trends by attending f2f training session conducted by International experts and watching shows on youtube, social media & attending digital courses.

If not the current profession, what would you have been?

I think I would have been Chef

Were your parents supportive of what you are doing? What impact have they had on your life?

My Parents, my In-laws, co-sister and my husband are very supportive of what I’m doing today. They form my foundation of hard work, my attitude towards my clients and ability to learn from mistakes.

What are your plans for the next 2 years?

I’m planning to do 90 days advance course in French baking in Paris next year. I also plan to start a studio of my own.

What does a typical day off from work consist of for you?

It can vary depending on the circumstances but I will always want to start my day late, spend quality time with family, meet my friends to chit-chat or go out for breakfast and/or dinner. Some-times, I want to go for retail therapy ☺

Any regrets till now? If yes, will you like to share it with our readers?

I wish I would have started in this profession much early…say 10-15years.

If you were given a choice of meeting any person you want, who will be that person?

Amitabh Bachahan

Any message that you want to send to your readers?

It is very hard to get qualities like fresh ingredients, hygienic set-up, personalized designs and taste when you buy from Outlets from retail chain/bakery shelf.
