“Managing a startup is like managing a newborn and enjoying watching it grow every day, says Parijat”.

We got an opportunity to talk with Parijat, one of the co-founders of Capturisque and Let’s look at his journey as an entrepreneur and see how he is working hard to achieve his dreams. I am sure his story will inspire you.

Give a brief info about your startup?

Capturisque (www.facebook.com/capturisque), is a brainchild of Parijat Chakraborty and Plabon Roy, founded in the year 2015. We are a passionate photographer-duo who capture “your special moments for you.” This is our mission and we truly stand by it.

What made you start your startup and what problem does it solve?

” There is one thing a photograph must contain, the humanity of the moment” – Robert Frank

This belief motivated us to capture moments and spread smiles across with less to worry. People frequently miss out on capturing their moments professionally, one of the reasons being how expensive photography is. So here, we have designed our venture to provide an easy and inexpensive way to get photographed without much to think about.

Tell us about yourself, your previous jobs/ventures? What were you doing before this startup?

Both of us belong to the IT field – one with a vast experience in delivery operations, customer service and the other in marketing and sales working with various corporates in the city

Where is your startup based out of? Why do you think that is the best place for you?

We are settled and based out of Bangalore. Bangalore is a cosmopolitan city, it thus helps us capture different culture and moments.

As a startup founder, what are you paranoid about? What keeps you awake at night?

One of the major challenges that keeps us hooked up is the act of plagiarism. Although there are ways to protect our work but it is one of the most common problems faced that is often the result of lack of knowledge and skills. On a different note, the passion of spreading smiles gives us enough happiness to have a good night sleep unless we have an early morning shoot

Who are your competitions and how are you better than them?

Well wouldn’t really term it as competition, but learning opportunities, any photographer using their skill for commercial photography. We believe in enhancing the beauty of memories and every opportunity we receive we treat it our own. We showcase a personal interest in our client’s requirement and this is our USP.

How hard is it to have a work-life balance as a startup founder and how do you manage it?

Managing a startup is like managing a newborn and enjoying watching it grow everyday. We are sure to encounter hiccups but the zeal, determination and the ability to take up challenges and enjoy is what our life is about. Understanding the nuances of this business and being able to manage is the key. Capturisque is not just a company but a passion and therefore managing it is never a task but an achievement each day.

Have you raised funding? If yes, then we would like to know the details. If no then please tell us if you are looking to raise.

No, currently we are a self-funded company.

What’s the biggest misconception people have about you? Why do they have that? What’s the reality?

I don’t think people have a misconception about us, but I would say the misconception is about photography. Photography is an art, it isn’t just a click business. It accounts for a lot of hard work, concentration, direction and ensuring the best output. It is time-consuming.

What gets you excited about this company?

Firstly the fact, that we have been able to take the very 1st step in transforming our dream into reality – the inception of Capturisque. Secondly, the excitement of capturing myriads of emotions each time we get behind the lens and sharing them with people around.

Tell us how a day in your life looks like? Your schedule for a day right from the time you get up till you hit the bed at night.

Unlike any corporate employee, we have an interesting lifestyle i.e. we are more active on weekends and holidays and sometimes wee morning hours to late evenings.

Apart from the ritual work-life which includes sharing the common emotion of people crossing Marathahalli, Silk Board, Tin Factory and being on social media, we never forget to use the lens that God has bestowed upon us in the form of our eyes to observe and learn from things around and get inspired to use those while we shoot.

Every contract of a photo shoot gives us a splurge of energy to start thinking and visualizing the entire event of the shoot.

And, not to forget since we both are great foodies,  we ensure that we do not compromise on our food any day.

Tell us about your team and how did you meet each other?

Our friendship is over a decade old. We worked in the same IT company, Mainstay. During one of our casual meetups, we got ourselves discussing on an upcoming company event where the photographers turned expensive and the team had a budget constraint. Understanding our similar love and passion for photography we gave it a try and covered the event as photographers (for free) and to our great joy, we received encouraging appreciation. That’s when we knew, this is what we wish to do!
